1st oil service should be free unless you car is 2nd hand and over 3 years old.

Zerocool, I had similar quotes for the first inspection(basically an oil service on my 530i M Sport), slightly lower prices though. Approx ?180 from ELM's BMW Camb and approx ?150 from Murketts BMW Huntingdon. I'm not sure if UK guys who bought their E60's new are getting 1st oil service FOC - any confirmations?

Service inclusive is an extra in the UK, around $2,500 US for 5 years.

Zerocool,

As a slight comparison, last year it cost me ?142 for an oil service for my E46 330d - most of that cost was for the oil!
I don't know if the service schedules for the 535d are different to the 530d, but my 530 has separate schedules for both oil change and service - is your quote for oil change AND service or just the oil change?? Either way, it sounds a little dear for us "oop North". I am fortunate that living in the middle of nowhere, I have 5 dealers within half an hours drive, so I can compare prices. These could vary by as much as ?70 for the same service!

Blue Bell at Crewe used to be good, maybe their Wilmslow base may be cheaper for you if you're willing to travel??

Happy shopping!!

Mike

Hmm interesting-so when they are not footing the bill (considering you do not get the service option) what are they recomending for oil change intervals? I always thought they recomend roughly every 12-15k only because they are paying for it but everyone else tells me that intervals is crazy!

Firstly, as said before, the service incl. or service & mainteneance incl. is an extra "pay for" package in the UK
The service intervals are not set by the dealer but calculated by the car and the diesels do go long. My first oil was at 19k and the second at 38k.

Zerocool, Have you tried looking into self supplying the correct LL04 grade oil ? I usually get my own oil at less than half the dealer cost and just pay them the labour for the service history. As the service manager of my dealer is sort of a buddy he always sorts me proper prices, too.
Oli change incl. filter (self supplied oil) they charge me something like 45 quid. The biggest part of your price will be the oil, as it's 8.5 litres and the dealers charge somewhere in the region of 15 quid a litre, so you're roughly talking 125 for the oil alone (at dealer prices)

The cost of the oil is indeed a large part of the service costs. However, if the UK is anything like the Netherlands, you do want to drop in to a couple of dealers and get quotes for the work - two buddies of mine and I have been doing this for some time now and find variances of up to 12% - mainly on labour, but also little variances on parts/consumables. My two mates have an E34 M3 and an E39 M5 respectively and I got varied quotes for my E39 525i. Haven't had to service the E60 yet.
