Not the same. It actually covers more than the BMW plan. I-drive and such.....and it's about $1,000 less.

so do you just go to the dealer to get repairs done and then they bill to to mercury or do they have their own specific mechanics you have to go to?

I plan on bringing my car to the dealer as i've been doing since the start. The dealer then calls Mercury to get authorization and payment via credit card. This is all done over the phone. The best part is that I am still eligible to get a loaner since I bought the car from there. Hope this helps.

I purchased my E60 MY05 in Feb/08. I have a year left on the manufacturing warranty. At the time of purchase I also bought the Plantinum Mercury Policy
why did you purchase this warranty when there was one year left on the original warranty? You could have done this in feb 09 as well.....OR am I missing something?

THank you for all the info. I to plan on getting the Mercury Platinum policy. I just wanted to hear someone elses take on it.
Take care about buying the policy from a broker. You may be able to get it at the dealer but at a primium. I have the phone number and PM me for more info and a contact.

You're missing something. Usually when you will get the best rate when you actually buy the car. Somtimes 500.00 discount. If you wait until your manufacturers warranty is up and then buy you of course pay more. I was told this by Shelly BMW in California. Also Long Beach BMW.

I have til next Jan before my manuf warranty runs out so I am at the dealer all the time getting advantage of it. Hopefully I'll get all the "kinks" out before my warranty expires and I'll not have to use my "mechanical" breakdown warranty. I didn't buy the service that includes breaks and oil changes and such. I did pay an extra 100 to not have a deductible. Typically you wouldn't get this benefit after the manuf warranty is up and you buy the extended warranty.

For some reason when I go to http://www.autowarrantybroker.com/quoterequest.asp and enter in my car info (05 525 with 26k miles) the only option I can choose is a Dura Lube warranty.

Anybody can purchase any aftermarket warranty at any time depending on the mileage and year. I agree, I would have waited till my stock warranty expired. Most aftermarket companies insure based on mileage and year. But hey, we all have lots of money, we own BMW's lol lol

Just looked at Mercury Platnium warranty today and rates went up as of June 1st significantly. For example my 04 545i for 100k platinum went up 56% in the course of 1 day.
