Please help me decide based on your experience. My warranty expires in 2 weeks, should I get
the extended maintenance contract for $1695.00 for 2 years or 100,000 miles. Thanks for your help.

I came up with this same dilemma.....I say extended WARRANTY YES.....extended MAINTENANCE NO. waste of money in my book, unless you got money to burn. I would look at your upcoming maintenance schedule over the coarse of the next 2 years and see what will be due. If its just oil changes and so forth, its not worth it, even it includes brakes its not really worth it. Its like double the cost of what you can either do yourself or have done away from the stealership!!

Extended Maintenance isn't worth the cost.

Extended Warranty is a YES depending on what they cover. I'm with Mercury Platinum Extended Warranty and that pretty much covers everything. I believe I ended up paying $3000 for 3 yrs. Keep in mind the BMW is very expensive when it comes to repairs. They can easily amount to thousands of dollars.

What does your warranty cover?

Thanks for the input. I will do some math. I believe it does cover brakes and such. I cannot get the extended warranty as I am the 2nd owner. Thanks again

Is there a list of items covered under the extended maintenance program? What about belts, waterpump etc.? Thanks again for all your help.

Maintenance is any easier one to figure out.

Based on your ownership history, what services are likely to be required within the next two years? The two likely candidates are an Inspection and brake/rotor replacement (oil service is cheap). Estimate what you'll need and price it out. Then you can decide. Have your brakes inspected for wear and get the percentage remaining. Have you had Inspection I yet?

The warranty is another matter. Last I checked it was very expensive, and wasn't nearly as comprehensive as the original 4 year warranty. For that, I think you're better to put the money an interest bearing account -- you'll come out ahead.
