My car was almost exactly 12% off MSRP.
Trip cost came in at around $2000 for two peeps staying a short 3 nights, 4 days.
But my city also has a direct Lufthansa flight to Munich (which you get two for one pricing for Euro Delivery, although the rate is not spectacular it was convenient).

Also if have have been a BMWCCA member for over 1 yr you will get $1000 for leasing or buying a new 5er.
PROS?

You get two of these cool plates

And a cheap alarm clock (made in China)

DOWNSIDES?
- You have to secure financing or initiate the lease at least 14 days prior to pickup, but BMW will make your second payment on a lease with a slightly higher money factor.
- West Coast transit times can be up to 90 days from what I hear, although 8-9 weeks is about average.
My East coast delivery was only 33 days.

Many more pics on the ED pages in my sig - good luck on your quest!

Is that speed under the break-in limits? Anyways, have a second car to drive so the wait is not a problem. I take it that trade-ins work the same as purchasing a domestic delivery.

Pros: You buy the car from BMWNA allottment not your dealers, thus you are able to deal at ED invoice +.

The trip to Europe.

Cons: You pay for the car 2 weeks before you leave for Europe. You buy a car sight unseen.

A 3rd party shipper (although reputable and fully insured) ships your car.

The car takes longer to get to your dealer than a similar direct ship vehicle.

Your car is fully prepped in Europe for pick up. It is up to your local dealer how much they will reprep your car. Some do it fully some hand over the car with european bugs still on the windshield.

I saved $ 10,000 off of MSRP on my 550 doing ED.

Nice list. In reality, he probably saved $4 to 6K over a (good) negoitated U.S. retail price. Few pay MSRP and $3K over U.S. invoice is too diffcult.

The more options the bigger the savings. Options might be 10% cheaper for Euro invoice.

No, 168 mph is definitely NOT within the break-in limits...that was not my car.
Break-in limits are 4500 rpms on the engine for 1200mi, and you really should give the tires & brakes a few hundred miles as well.

I only hit 140 mph in my car for a few seconds heading to Mittenwald otherwise I was under 4500 rpms at 125 mph or so...varying speed accordingly.

How does one "borrow" an M6 from BMW M? Do you work for BMW or is there a trick that most of us do not know about?

We saved over $8000. on our 530i. Add to that the savings we would have paid for a rental car for three weeks in Europe, the savings are even better. There is nothing like picking your car up there, and then driving it where it was born. Driving on the Autobahn and on Swiss Alpine roads in your own Bimmer is an awesome combination. As the ad says, priceless.

$8000+ savings is about right for a fully loaded 530i @ ED invoice Vs. US Retail MSRP.

But very few really pay full US MSRP so savigs is more around 4~6K
