GMartin, what is the basis for the not "before 1st week in September" prediction? What information does your CA have to make that statement? If it's valid I may opt for an MY05, myself.

Tim C, My CA told me that for my car it would be no earlier than Sept 1. I am assuming that the parts will be made available on a rolling basis ie some cars earlier than others. Hopefully yours will be available sooner. I made the decision that another 6 weeks wait wasn't going to kill me and I'd rather have a 2005 that doesn't depreciate so much the first month I drive it.

GMartin, mine has been at the VPC since July 21, but I recall yours was there before that. I don't understand/believe the parts issue. It seems BMW is currently building later orders with good ECUs. I think we got the shaft. I don't think I want a September delivery either, but I'm feeling sour enough now that ordering a 2005 is in doubt.

They give the August 14th date as well....so I don't know if they are lying or not..but if he calls me that tells me that I have to wait another week or two, I will tell you to go f--k himself, I am missed the whole summer already and driving a ridiculous Hyundai until then....

I guess I was really lucky! I ordered my 545i late May. It was received in the US ok 7/31 and I am going to pick it up tomorrow! It appears (according to the VIN) that my car was not part of the recall. The car was in the prep center for aprox 2-3 days.

Hoping for a blue tooth and sat radio retrofit!

Jon

I understand your frustration.

I'm willing to cut BMW some slack for problems that arise, but when there are delays, and communication is either absent or inaccurate, I draw the line. Most internet commerce companies I deal with seem to understand the customer order, communication process very well, keeping me informed every step of the way. Why this can't be done for vehicles costing USD 55-70K is difficult to comprehend.

I was told mid-August. If that slips again, I may look at the 2005 Audi A6.

Jon, based on the US VPS arrival date (assuming the east coast), it looks like your 545 may have been built shortly after July 6. When you get it, let us know the build date.
