I'm in the UK, and my dad has ordered a 530d, he managed to get 8% discount on that, what discounts have people got, anybody beat that?

8% is the margin the dealer gets.

I got about 10% on mine though it's difficult to quantify exactly as I got a discount and a very agressive trade in. Sad to say E60's are not selling well in the UK and there are plenty of deal's to be done.

Dealers have more than 8% to play with as they get quarterly bonuses based on volumes and even on the level of customer service they give (that's one of the reasons get that phone call from BMW after you buy a new car). X3's are a really big problem and you can get discounts of more than 10%.

As David said BMW are struggling with the new models in the UK. Who would have thought this 2 years ago? Eye watering discounts of 13% (and higher) on X3, the Z4 is not doing great business, big discounts on the new 6 and stupidly cheap contract hire deals on the 7 series (as they try to shift the current model before the facelift appears in April). On top of this there are sizeable discounts on petrol engined 5's which are bad news for UK dealers. No-one wants them due to higher company car tax and high fuel prices. Residuals on them are thus very poor. I don't think the new 1 series is doing well either.

Looks like we are all in for a nasty shock on residuals, particularly if you have ploughed your own cash into the car and want to trade in before it gets to 3 years old.

If you are in the market for a new BMW in the UK always try to buy at the end of each quarter when sales targets have to be met to obtain franchise bonuses. Salesman at sensible dealers will talk big discounts at these times as the dealership can lose a lot of money if targets aren't met on new registrations.

Ex demo 530D Touring with all sorts of bits, lists at ?44500, we paid ?35500 for 2 months old.
That's the kind of saving I like as I've not took the hit.

I got my 530i SE when it was 3 months old with only 350 miles on clock. Car would have cost nearly ?40k new, instead got it for ?33k. This was about 10 months ago now, so dread to think what value my car is worth now.
