Hi,

Anyone have any idea about the price reductions when buying through diplomatic/international organizations scheme? Also, are the base models better equiped than the normal ones ? Thanks.

when i purchased through diplomatic sales (dont ask) in 2003, the price reduction was 8%-12% depending on how you specced your car. In terms of VAT , they follow the rates of your domicile country.

diplo discount is 15%, but could be higher (some dealers propose additional lump sum in order to convince you).
15% discount not on the total price, but on price without vat. for vat it all depends if you are eligible or not (better to be). 15% also applies on accesories.

diplomatic configuration = german configuration, some adjustments for local markets possible - both in standard equipment and engine adjustments - for example for fiscal reasons n52 2.5i in belgium not 160 kw, but 155 kw - hardly noticable

Thanks for your replies.

When you say 15% discount, is that on the national prices where your're buying the car (Belgium in this case) or do they take german prices as a reference? I remember seeing somewhere that BMW diplomatic prices are the same everywhere in the world...

Hi,

Just one quick question: are the BWM Diplomatic prices, more specifically, the EU institutions ones, limited to the country where the buyer is situated (my case: Belgium)?

The reason I'm asking is to see if there's a possibility of asking price offers in different countries under this price regime. Also, if anyone knows, is it possible to do the same at national level (EU price offers on different national dealers) ?

TIA.]

Hi,

I work in finnish KFOR in Kosovo, and we have the ability to buy tax-free cars with diplomat/UN pricing. We get -15% (at least from Audi,VW,BMW) off from tax-free car price (finnish tax-free prices, not german prices) and also -15% from all options. It's quite good deal when you consider taxes in Finland: basically if you buy a new car tax-free, you can get one half the price than it costs in Finland. When you substract -15% and dealers discounts (few percent more), then we are talking about a good deal.

I guess these UN/diplomat prices are same in every EU country.

The diplo prices at the European Inst./Diplo missions are based on the same pricelist based on the German E60 specs.
