I'm asking myself the same question every day.
I can't sleep... So I watch TV and keep checking this board.
At about 3:30-4am I'll go to bed. Back in my office between 9-10am.

Well, it's better to be contributing here on E60 forums than watching the tube!

Unfortunately this option is not available in the UK.

When I saw the first 2005 US ordering guide about a month or so ago I noticed too that the Sport Package now came with "Satin Chrome" instead of shadowline. I assumed that they meant a silver finish that would be less shiny than regular chrome , but more shiny than a matte aluminum finish. Sort of like the Satin Chrome M3 wheels, or the trim on some Audi or Porsche models. However, the latest info doesn't just say "Satin Chrome" but instead "Satin Chrome Shadowline" with the option code 339. This makes me think that perhaps they just changed the name for the trim and it is probably the same as the matte black Shadowline from 2004. I have never seen BMW use the same option code for two different things in different countries and/or different model years (that I can remember). If in 2004 339 was matte black Shadowline and in 2005 it is still matte black Shadowline in Germany, I think it will be matte black Shadowline in the US too. So maybe it is just a name change. I guess if nobody posts a definitive answer by OCT. 8, I will find out when I pick up my car on that day.

Although I am a huge fan of all matte metal trims (especially inside the car), I don't know if I would like a half matte/half shiny metal trim (if that is what Satin Chrome turns out to be). Even if I like it up close, I think it may look too much like regular chrome from a distance, and I don't like regular (shiny) chrome. If this is the case then I will swap the trim out with the black Shadowline. I am still hoping that it is just a name change, since the option code is still 339.

Since the code is the same I guess you're right on the name change.
