May be a stupid question, and I have done a search (this is my first post here)

I'm picking up an E60 this weekend (US model) and will be leasing it. I wish to debadge the car but not get fined upon turn it. I know I could replace the model designation prior to turn in, but could I ask the dealer to include the option code for model designation delete on the bill of sale so there are no questions? Does anyone know what this code is?

Thanks,

I don't have the de-badge code but thats the last thing I'd worry about. A few bucks worth of numbers will cure that.
I've seen cars go back after a 3-year lease and the only thing not bent on them were the keys. Just tell them they fell off.

The lease company wont give a crap, and if they do by chance show them the paperwork that it was ordered that way.

Dont worry about it. Why the debadge? Just stealth reason?

I debadged my car. Its really no big deal at all using a string....just clean the marks off afterwards with a piece of cloth....no big deal. You can always put it on later when selling the car. BMW sells the badges at $20 so its really cheap, I even had the chance of putting a 525 badge once for fun....if yours is a 525 I can even give you a free badge since I have one extra

I would try to order the car debadged, but as said above, you can always put everything back inexpensively.

The reason for the debadge is mainly because I like it that way and I feel it is easier to clean--no dirt buildup around the numbers. The car will be a 530 XiT, white. I just don't want to feel obligated to put the badge back on.

Anyone know the actual option code?

First off all, Welcome to the forum. We are happy to get new members to this forum. I think many cars in Europe are debadged because the cars are more expensive in Europe than in the U.S and that we want to pretend that the car has a bigger engine than it actually have got.
Note that I haven't debadged my car
Cheers

Debadged just gives it that clean look and other drivers don't know what you have under the hood
