Hey! Watch it, there are some of us in our 40's who are driving the 5!

I see some people get a bit sensitive in their old age

Just kidding

Even if I was in my 40's right now, I'd still want the car I've just ordered.

i drive a 330 sport auto 02. my lease is ending soon. It is my 4th beemer and i wanted to change brand.
I test drove the Acura RL a nice Honda full of gadgets, nice ride but uninspiring.
Next was the Audi A8. beautiful car, expensive, dream interior and fabulous finish. The car felt good on the road and it had quattro which in icy Canada is an advantage. I made an offer but we were off by $100 monthly.
I was lucky they didnt take my offer cause my next test was at 545. What an engine, what an accelaration.. I was sold right there and then. I was knocked out.
I ordered the car.an april production.(silver grey, dynamic drive, prem. pack, gps..
Recently i had the occasion to drive a GS 430, nice car but nothing to it.

cant wait..

Hi Guys,

Am new on this site. I just sold off my e39 and was in the same dilema. I actually considered buying a 2005 E-class avantgarde or a bmw X5. I have used the e32, e34, e46, e38, e39, and wanted to drive an SUV for a change, but after test driving the 2005 E-class avantgarde and comparing agility, responsiveness and options I settled for the e60.

I can assure you, for just driving pleasure alone, you would love the e60. The active steering takes just a short while to appreciate. The world of power steering is just gone, and I must tell you, the difference in weight you experience with the aid of the active steering and those of the standard power steering is appreciated when you are faced with some major situation on the road requiring you to be very agile. My e39 felt very heavy driving and that was even lighter in driving compared to those of the e38.

Options you should not give up is Pro Logic 7 or better sound system, active steering, adaptive + xenon headlights, PDC, Pro Nav, Sports suspension, Auto Rear view mirror. Also for better driving pleasure, I will recommend you try out the 530/535 diesel... you will never regret it... that is if you are not fussy about that very slight diesel "slapping" noise. Its almost unrealiseable.

Regards

Hi Many!

That sounds very similar to what I am doing right at this moment.. I would be curious to try both the step and the SMG but since the SMG can do a full automatic mode (jerky or weird feeling shifts notwithstanding!) I doubt that I would put money down for a step.
What did you think of the 6?
Good luck with your order too! I'm going to bring up the 550 issue with my dealer -- I wonder how honest they can be with me about incentive pricing as the end of the 545 draws nearer...

I've been looking at a 545 too, and my sales associate said that BMW incentive $ on the 545 is unlikely given the relatively small number of units out in the market.

However I don't put much stock in that answer, as I don't expect him to "predict" what BMW will do before it's announced.

There is no BMW $ for April, but who knows what May...June...July...August will bring.
