Took 3yrs/60000 miles servicing and maintenance when I bought the car. I Drive showing oil change due at 3100 miles, rear break pads at 8000 miles and front break pads at 11000 miles. Surely the car wont have to be returned to the garage 3 times for maintenance. Has anybody used this package and is it good value.

I suppose it depends on how hard you drive your car. I suppose it's nice to know you've got the maintenance, so you don't have to worry about being light on the pedals !!

Yup, 3 visits. How else could it be done?

I took the 5yr/60k miles Service and Maintenance Pack (for ?1400) when I bought my car in March '07.
So far I've done 20k miles and it's only been in for an oil change at 18k.
I-Drive says brakes are good for another 6/9k front/rears, making a total of at least 24k miles on a set The brake pads on any car I've ever owned have never lasted that many miles......

At this rate, by my reckoning, I would probably have saved money by paying-as-I-go for my servicing. I'll know for sure by the time I hit 60k miles whether or not it was value for money. Right now I'm not so sure..... Guess it offers peace of mind though.

I think they will expect your car to go in 3 times though, as they refuse to do any work unless its within a few hundred miles of what I-Drive indicates.

This is the same pack I have bought and my mileage is 17.5k at the moment.

Will go through the 60k mile mark in about 3 years so would expect 3 oil changes, 3 rear pad changes, 3 front pad changes and possibly 2 brake fluid changes.

It also covers the timing belt I think and new calipers but..........

it doesnt seem like such a good idea now if the car needs to go back in to the garage every so often. My last car was a SAAB and the car went in once a year - same as most others.

Yeah the peace of mind thing is good but as the car will be off the road more often this will be a pain especially as I use it for work.

Has anybody actually been through the 60k miles with this pack - how did it balance out.

You shouldn't be off the road too long at each visit to the garage. I also use my car for work, and they offered to do my oil change while I wait. Took an hour, including courtesy wash/vac and I spent the time drooling over /dreaming about new M5s/M3s in the showroom.....

Ummm.....well I had the 60k service pack, in my case no it was not value - I use my car, 74k miles in 27 months; like others I considered the service pack on balance would likely be value, how wrong can you be!

During the service pack period the car had only '2' oil services, yes only two! The first oil service at 23.5k, the second at 46k, the third came up at 67k, that was outside the 60k limit - if you count the normal cost here that's circa 360UK pounds (180 per oil service), as the service pack cost 1400 that's not even close to being 'value' - oh I forget, I did have the wiper blades replaced, what joy!

As to the brakes etc. I've still have 7k/10k to go on brake pads according to CBS, Car has now tavelled 74k now, great you'd say that little servicing over that amount of milege - so far its cost me 700 per oil service!! Are service packs value? That's down to your judgement, however my experience and that of some friends who have experienced similar trends is, use' your e60 over regular longer distances and service packs are most unlikely to be 'value.'

By the way, my e60 (530d) has had 15 warrenty service visits over the 27 months of ownership, mostly software issues............

From what you have said maybe I will get slightly better value - my journeys are probably 50% urban and 50% motorway and I will definitely get two oil changes, two sets of pads front and back and maybe new wipers too !!

Just been reading what is covered and timing/drive belts are not.

Calipers are not but discs are so maybe I will have a set of discs but I cannot remember the last time I had to renew these as I usually change cars about the 60k mark anyway.

What kind of software issues ?

So far so good with me the car has never had to go back and is beatiful to drive.

Transmission, upgrades to cure - now has s/w patches to cure problems - the car has also had three replacement CCC's too.

The car is a delight to drive, its not as bad as maybe read given my comments - I'm pleased with the e60, its a great deal more reliable than my MB S500 which spend it's life in the garage!
