I bet your brackets are cracked too! Have a look at your left and right front light assembly mounting brackets. The bracket holds the light assembly to the side front frames under the hood. (Hard to explain...see pics below)

I went to my dealer, I checked every E60 they had in service, and BINGO, they are all cracked. My dealer is looking into it...However, the part number written on the bracket references that the entire assembly would have to be swapped out to fix it...($1000 per side! - under warranty of course) They didn't want to swap it until they heard back from BMWNA.

Anyway, here are some crappy cell phone snapshots of the bracket's location. (the crack is hard to make out in the pictures but basically, it is cracked across the bolt hole)

Interested to know who DOESN'T have these cracks!

Cheers,
Marco

Yep, same cracks, seems stable enough even with the cracks. Looks like the torque setting on that assembly implement is set a touch too high. However, mine are only broken on one side of the attachment bolt. Not on both sides like in your pics.

Just checked and neither of mine are cracked. If it was, I would show it to my wife who would fix it in a jiffy with her handy dandy Lightning Bond kit. That stuff has proven to be amazing and often stronger than the original.

My right side bracket is cracked completely through....left side appears okay. As mentioned in an earlier reply it is most likely a torque issue during assembly.

Mine are ok, but they are made of plastic. Seems like yours are metal..

They are branded both BMW and Hella..

Well, looks good here. I shouldn't be depressed but I was thinking there might be some good of this. I am not about to crack them either but I wish they would if that means I can swap out the unit.

From Singapore, both brackets are still ok, no crack detected.
