I am looking into updating the software in my E60 as i have the 04 model. After various phone calls, i have found somewhere that tells me they will do it for about ?85 as long as all goes to plan and there are no hiccups!

Anyone else in the uk done this? Obviously out of warranty

That's a very good price. I also have a 2004 model and it cost me 180 euros (including enabling MP3 support for the in-dash CD). As UK BMW parts prices are still based on an exchange rate of about 1.4, that should be around ?130 so you're well under.

I was just looking on BMW Germany site at some nice "M" sunglasses for ?120 (?110) and then I tried BMW UK and saw them for ?69. I wonder if/when BMW UK will adjust their prices. Maybe holding off on some accessories is a bad idea if they decide to hike up the prices. Then again, BMW didn't adjust the US prices of anything since the dollar fell into the toilet.

There is guys who will charge you per hour but cap the charges at 3 hours. Find them because it may work out cheaper even if something does go wrong.

Yes, the special hardware is a BMW dealership. If you've got one of those, you're all set

A full update can often than 8-12 hours. Its a car not a computer.

I will take my car to this place at the end of the month. Basically they charge ?55 per hour and they will go by how long the computer says it will take. Fingers crossed

its a computer in a car though?

8-12hours ??

WTF i just cant think of any reason for it to take that long
you could probably install a new idrive system in that time let alone just plug it into a fancy bmw stamped pc and send some data across
