I went the the BMW North America site where I looked up the status of the 545 I ordered. It shows that my car is built and is now awaiting transport. Does anyone know how long it should be before it is delivered to me in Chicago?

You'll grow old waiting for it to arrive. Happened to me. I think it took about a month to get to Dallas - lessee, to port on Mar. 5 and in Dallas on Apr 10.

It's worth the wait! Mine came sooner than I wanted. Had to sit on (i.e park) my old lease for 3 months.

It took about 9 weeks for me to receive my car from production and delivery to the dealership. I placed my order in October so I can lock in a production slot in January. I wanted to take delivery in March. So my dealer did promise that I will get the car by March.

what a beautiful anxiety

It happens to all..we all experience that wait period..it 1 sec seem like an eternity.

The best part is when you recieve the call from the dealer..

Thanks for the estimates. Even though much longer than I hoped. It looks like early to mid November it will be. Oh well a new BMW for the holidays is not the worst thing I can think of!

Keep in mind the delay the web site typically has. My status was "Awaiting Transport" the day it arrived at my dealer! Do a search for the 800 number as I found that system more up to date. For delivery here in New Orleans, it was right about one month from end of production to arrival at the dealer.

I don not understand about the 800 number. How would I do a search to see where my car is located at?

You can call directory assistance for BMWNA and talk to a customer service rep or talk to your CA about the status. Cars can wait up to 7 - 10 days for transport depending on when the ship is filled and departs. Voyage to east coast US 12 to 16 days. Time at VPC 2-7 days. Then transport to Chicago 2 days. These are estimates - five weeks maximum hopefully. Good luck
