Are you in the US?
if yes, it cannot be done. Gray imports are quite impossible.
He could buy and register it in Europe and ship it with euro plates. Then you could drive it for 1 year, I think, on US roads (as a "visitor" car). Basically it's like when a european tourist decides to tour the US and bring his own car.

I am in the US. I thought I would try this to avoid haggling with a dealership.

530i base model : $47,500
530i base model in Germany : EUR 45,000 = $61,300
(It's a bit cheaper here in Switzerland, maybe $55k but you still can't compete with the US...)

BTW there is no longer a 530i on sale in the US. It's a 528i.

Maybe I haven't explained myself. Here is what I would like to do. I purchase the vehicle through the European Delivery program and then have my relative pick it up and have him ship to the US for me.
And yes it is cheaper in the US. Those prices in Europe. Yikes!
