I am on the literal verge of buying a 2004 525i .... went around the dealerships around town and nothing caught my eye. However there is one with 21000Ks, black on black, which is the combo I like. I am not sure if go for it or look for a demo which is around 89000-92000 dollars. Anyone from downunder for tips?

Hi, the only big difference will be the motor between the 2004 model and picking up a current demo model from a dealership. Mid 2005, BMW changed their 6 Cylinder petrol motors and gave them a 10% + increase of power by a new design.. I havent seen this yet, but i think over time the resale of the ealier models with the old motor will suffer more depreciation than Post Mid 2005 deliveries.

Additionally, the 2004 model comes out of Standard BMW warranty this year, and I would be VERY worried in not having warranty coverage with the E60.. (Its complex, and will be expensive to fix if you have to pay yourself.)

So my suggestion would be to negotiate hard on a current Demo Model !!

I agree.. Better off buying the updated engines especially if its the 525i.

If its the 530i, not so bad as it makes quite decent power even before the engine update.

I would go for a demo but if possible, a new car.

I remember the dealer in Perth trashing the 325i demo car that he sold by driving it like a mad man after just having started it on a cold morning so i would say demo cars arent exactly the best looked after cars either.

If possible, try for a new car?

Regards,
Kenny

Thanks for the tip guys ..... I haven't seen the car yet, but I am being attracted by the colour combination. I'll think about the new one too ...
I am not sure if it has TV in it or not. Can you play actual DVDs on it??

I'm in Adelaide and will be dropping by the Adelaide dealership tomorrow (there's only 1). Give me the details (ie. link or license plate) and I'll check the car out for you if you'd like.

Tip #2: See Tip #1.
If it will be a '04 the car has to be built after Nov. 2004.

They improved the cars safty a lot at after that.

See EuroNCAP!

New engines (523i, 525i and 530i) after March '05.

My recommandation is also a April '05 built or newer!
