My BMW lease expires in early November. BMW has offered to sell the car directly to me at a discount from residual, but the figure is, in my opinion, above market, and I would prefer to keep the car if I can get it down a bit.

I've learned that dealers, any BMW dealer, can also buyout the car at an even greater discount and resell it to me for their cost plus a reasonable markup for their time and effort. My dealer, as friendly and wonderful as he is, isn't really interested in the hassle of doing this. The car must come in for a safety inspection, a smog cert., and the dealership is a good distance away. I'm thinking perhaps an out of state dealer might be exempt from the California inspection rules and would leave it to me to make sure the car is properly re-registered once the title is transferred

Are there any dealers in this group that would be willing to work with me on this process? If so, please contact me privately.

Thank you,
Robert

Are you saying that you talked to your sales person and (s)he refused to help? Unbelievable! The real buyer is present, they saving auction fees and they still not willing to sell you the car? Are they about to go out of business?

I would like to know a bit more about this.

My lease doesnt run for 12 months, but I had inquired about whether a deal was possible for less than residual, which is crazy high for the market.

I was told that they werent aware of it.

Is there some lingo or something I'm missing here...? Or is my sales guy just not helping?

I?ve just re-leased my own car for another year. The original residual of my car was around $47K. As far as I know the current whole sale price for my car should be somewhere between $30-32K. My dealer bought the car from BMWFS and leased it to me with a sale price of $34K even (no CPO). I am sure they did not pay more than $30-31K for it. You can also buy your car directly from BMWFS but they probably will not go below residual-$10K.

Can you PM me the name of your sales advisor so I can call him to talk to him?
