I was wondering today about BMW's pricing strategy. In addition to selling cars in the US generally for much cheaper than in the rest of the world, the US price includes all scheduled maintenance for 4 years or 50,000 miles (it even includes things like wiper blades!). It's a huge selling advantage - one that many luxury car makers offered, but dropped over the years. In fact, I think that BMW and maybe Audi are the only luxury car makers in the US that still offer it.

In any event, is scheduled maintenace included in the price of BMWs outside of the US?

Obviously not included .
I didn't know about this futher advantage you have in US .

The maintance is very expensive in Europe (in UK is crazy!) : at the delivery I preferred to pay EUR 4000 for 5 year/100k km for all except the tires (brakes, bulbs, clutches, etc.) .

Cheers!

The other aspect of this issue, in my opinion, is what the CPO programs are like in other countries. I imagine that BMW is willing to provide free maintenance in the U.S. because a lot of their cars are leased here and they want them to come back well maintained, so they can, in turn, certify them and sell them again for more profit. My guess is that this CPO factor has something to do with it as well.

Most US cars get about what? 3 free oil changes and a free microfilter if you fight for it. Oh ya and a brake flush...

BMW scheduled maintenance plan in Canada DOES NOT include brakes, rotors or wiper blades, we have to purchase
an additional plan which costs around $ 800.00 and is only good up to first 60,000 KMS ,(38,000 miles).

Good thing I purchased the plan as I had all 4 brakes and rotors changed at around 50,000 KMS. Although BMW claims to use original parts, I am not sure given the amount of brake dust that I have since the change happened.

BMW USA is including the scheduled maintenance because all their competitors in the particular maket segment are so they have no choice. If you have ever read a BMW FINANCE lease contract you will see that they stipulate that things like tires and brakes must have at least 50% wear left on them when the consumer returns the vehicle, they have the right to charge
the client back at the end of the lease if the wear is in excess. Sure if you return the car with less than the new car warrantly mileage on it, then BMW will repair under the maintenance agreement, but what percentage of leases come back
with any warranty left on them?
