My Ride: 2004 525iA, Black II, Bi-Xenon, Navigation Proffesional, PDC, servotronic, HiFi, voice recognition system, Riegel ahorn wood.
I bought my 2004 525i in Germany for EUR 33 500. Imported into Norway with all taxes paid the price became EUR 57 000 That's the tax regime in Norway
I wanted a bigger engine. Well, if I would go for a 530i the tax would increase by EUR 7800. In addition the car would cost some more in Germany (and put 25% sales tax on top of that )
In Norway you pay taxes according to i) the weight of the car ii) sylinder volume and iii) horse power.
To give you an exaple: going from a 2.0-litre to a 2.5-litre increases the tax by EUR 4730 (in addition you pay for extra horse power). That's why a turbo engine is nice for the Norwegian tax regime. But when you love BMW that is no option
Next year the Norwegian gowernment has promised to change the tax rates according to CO2-emmision. So, next time I should consider a powerful diesel engine (maximum a 530d, I suppose). That is, if I chose to still live in this wonderful country (after all it is rated by UN as the best in the world )
