Hi, Think I posted this in the wrong place my first time.New owner of a 2005 545i. Purchased through private seller and I just wanted to see if there was a way I could find out what version of software my car was running and if there were any updates needed. I know i need the MP3 update for my CD player, but not sure what else. In my Passat I would just hook up a VAGCOM and just read the info off the car, but I suspect it is not that easy in the 5s.Live in the Morristown area in Jersey so I have a few dealers to choose from (Denville and Morristown). Are there any mechanics i can visit? Any advice anyone could offer would be appreciated.

AFAIK, a trip to the dealer is the only way to find out what SW version you have. That being said...you will most likely get the newsest SW once you get the MP3 capability going....
another thread to read thru is the SIB thread in the dealer purchasing and service section (read from last to frist as the lastes SIB's are later in the thread (I did see you posted in there as well)..GL
