Battery replacement is covered?
#1
Hi all -
Have an '05 545i and any time the radio is on (engine off) for under 10 minutes, my battery charge indicator light comes on.
Have it at the dealer right now for an 'increased emissions' issue and asked the SA to take a look at it.
The car is CPO and I've purchased the BMW extended maintenance warranty on it.
Question: SA advises that if needed, battery is NOT covered to me and that it's approx $450 to replace. Does this sound right to you all, both in terms of coverage (lack thereof) and price?

Yes, the battery is covered under the original 4yr/50K warranty but NOT under CPO or extended maint. The price at the dealer sounds about right, but you can do it cheaper yourself. There are few DIYs about this but be careful to replace with with exact same battery so no coding is needed. May be you can even buy it from the dealer (to be sure you get the same/right one) and swap it yourself.
