As per my 1st post earlier this week, i collect my E60 535D M-Sport on Monday, so havong come from many years in Audi's, is their anything specific i should be checking on the car or looking out for.

She's only 4 months old & done 6000 miles, but my guess is that their are certain things one should always check (not generic checks as of course i'll do those), but looking for anything more specific to E60's/BMW or 535D's.

What dealer stuff is available such as auto locking doors/alarm arming beep/auto window close etc.? These were things that you had swithced on or off at the dealers on Audi's. Is it the same with BMW's & can anyone let me know what they are??

Thanks in advance & i'm more than a little excite about getting my new Bimmer.

I am not familiar with the differences in US and European BMW's or the diesels. I am not sure where you are getting you car, but if from a dealer, then I'd ask to have someone demonstrate the various functions and observe whether they work. I know of nothing special that you should be on the lookout for.

It's coming from a BMW main dealer & the car was owned/run by the dealers Principal.

I'll probably just sit in their car-park, playing with all the buttons etc. & ask questions if i really get stuck with a feature or something does not appear to work probably.

Was asking, as most cars/marques have traits that should always be checked. With Audi's it was coil packs on the smaller turbo engines, brakes on the bigger cars, dashpods & fuel senders & also checking if any required recalls had been done. I'm sure this is the same with E60 Diesels so wanted to be well prepared when i pick the car up on Monday.

Well for the US All those stuff such as auto locking, alarm beep, alarm light flash confirmation are all done through the iDrive... The only thing that I can think of thats programmable at the dealer is Day Time Running Lights. BUT I believe as of new software in Europe that can also be controlled via the iDrive. in US and Canada we still need the dealer to change it.

As for other more specific stuff for the 535 I'm not sure.

OH I also noticed you have Sat Nav with the new software you should be able to play MP3s on your CD drive in the center console. So make a CD fill of MP3s and see of you can play it. If not ask the dealer for a Software upgrade to Version 20.01 or higher.

Nice car nearly same spec as mine. If it has folding mirrors make sure the key has been programmed to make them fold when locking the car.I've just had a new bluetooth module fitted and a new drivers window motor fitted because the anti trap function ceased to work, which is a common fault. The alarm is silent when activated no beep, and as mentioned make sure you have the latest CIP and Nav disk.
