My car is at the dealer to fix the creaks coming from the front and rear winshields. I took them some info that one of our mebers e-mailed to me, showing what needs to be replaced to correct the problem. I even went for a ride and spoke with the shop foreman. I basicaly did all the homework for them, and they kept the paper with the info. for reference. Today I call to see what the staus was on my car and my SA told me he will call me tommorow around 11:00am, because they had to get or send a P.U.M.A to BMWNA?????? What the hell is a puma, I thought by doing my rerearch, I would have minimized the wait time for my car, I guess I was wrong.

Its something like Product Under Manufacturers Assesment. That means your dealer is consulting the engineers at BMW central to determine if this is a known problem and what the possible remedy may be.
At least thats the understanding I got from speaking to the technician at my BMW dealer's service dept. Feel free to correct me if I am mistaken

Besides the creaks, have you had any problems with your rear seat area? I've been hearing squeaks around the rearseat area on mine since day 1. Last service visit they told me that they changed the whole back seat, but days later the problem still annoys me from engine start to engine off. Any suggestions?

Your noise is probably coming from the rear parcel shelf, they told me they would outfit it with felt tape.

PuMA is the proper term used by BMW. And it is refered to as a PuMA case
The PuMA case is the input from dealer service department to the BMW Technical Hotlline Specialist, part of the BMW Group Technical Hot line. The Hotline specialist will provide back to the dealer service center a diagnostic or troubleshooting plan to aid in the remedy of problem.
Certain minimum requirements have to be met by the service center in order to submit a PuMA case.
- The tech working on the car must be trained on the specific vehicle or system in question
- All available resources must be reviewed including TSBs, Service Measures, TIS, Service Technology Bulletins (SBTs), DCS (BMW message system) Messages, Service Round Table, Training manuals, Repair Manual Instructions and DIS Functional Descriptions.
- Required checks must be performed
- Shop Forman / Team Leader must be consulted
- Vehicle MUST be in shop and and diagnostic tester must have transmitted data indicating all test modules have been completed.
Not to be used for warranty approval; not for radio security codes, and specific information is to be included in the PuMA message.
Other than that I cannot help u on your specific problem, sorry.

A cat of many names, the Puma is also known as the Cougar, Panther or Mountain Lion. In general the size and coloration of the cat varies greatly across its range, which stretches from the south west of Canada down the western states of North America and throughout most western parts of the South American continent. In the north of its range and in higher mountainous regions the pumas coat is generally longer to provide additional protection against the extremes in temperature - the colour of the fur varies from slate grey, through yellow buff to light reddish brown. In appearance the puma has a small, broad head with small rounded ears, a powerful body with long hind legs and tail, which is tipped with black.
