A friend of my fathers once bought two Lincolns on his Amex, one for him and one for his son. I think the largest charge ever was a Lear Jet.

Mine wouldn't let me put much on my AMEX Plat when I bought my car. Don't recall how much, but it wasn't much. They said the owner imposed the limit. I guess the surcharges on a purchase like that would be astoundingly high for the merchant.


The thing I find funny about AMEX merchants is that a lot of places that "don't take AMEX" will actually grudgingly take it if you don't have any other form of payment. A lot of it is a smokescreen so they can take a card that doesn't sock it to them as badly.
