Hi all,

Advise needed here, would you rather:
purchase 2007 530i now
wait until restyled 2008 535i for next year

I am asking this question because considering:
resale value?
would it look outdated, even its only a minor restyle?

What do you guys think is better? any comments/suggestions?

That's a tough question as we don't know for sure what the price difference will be and it's possible that MY08 changes to the 530 might also impact your decision - if you knew what they were. As both of the above require a crystal ball it boils down to this: do you need/want the car now or would you be happy to wait? If the former, MY07 530i is a fine car. If the latter - who knows what he future may bring, and also keep in mind that if you do wait until next year there will be something else on the horizon that may be (or seem to be) "better". That's the long answer. Short answer - if you can find a car and deal you like, and have a need for a car now, get the 530.

Thanks, after searching the forum and google, the changes are bigger air vents on front bumper, weird transmission shifter... any more changes? i didnt hear any though...

Yeah, seems you also bought the 2007 instead of waiting for 08, my guess you would prefer the 07 instead of waiting another 6 months before restyling

There's never a good moment to buy a car - not unlike a computer. If you need a car now, get the 530. If you can wait, wait - at least you'll have more info.

BTW - in terms of resale value, I doubt restyling or a new engine which is not (AFAIK) a direct replacement will make much of a difference over the medium term (3-5 years). If you were to buy a 530 to re-sell in early '08, then different question...
