So I got a used non CPO lease return MY05 E60 545i back in June'08.
The car had 23K miles and according to the dealer that I purchased it from, the warranty expires in Aug '08.

Then when I emailed my local BMW dealer, the lady said that my warranty expires in 4/29/09????

Where can I find out when will my warranty expires?

Is it worth it to buy the extended warranty? My local dealer quoted me "platinum warranty" for $3400.
Can anyone recommend a dealer that can give me a deal on extended warranty?

Keep the advice coming

Hard to tell, but either dealer should be able to tell you the in service date based on the VIN. That is when the 4-yr warranty expires. You might even put a call in to BMWNA for another answer.

As for warranties, they are quoting you a thrid-party warranty as only the original owner can buy the BMW extended warranty. READ THE FINE PRINT CAREFULLY!!! There are usually exclusions such as electronics and that would mean iDrive etc. Some third-party warranties do cover electronics, but get a full copy of the contract and read it closely...

Thanks for the reply.

I just called another dealership and it seems that my current warranty really does expire on 4/29/09.

Currently I am still waiting for the dealer's response whether the warranty quote is 3rd party or BMW backed warranty.

as only the original owner can buy the BMW extended warranty.
Any person original owner or second or third can purchase the BMW extended warranty for a car as long as it is within the original 4/50k warranty. You will just have to pay the $$ to have the dealer do a certification and then you will have to make right anything which they deem is needed for the CPO (exp replace worn tires, wiper blades ) I have purchased BMW Extended warranty on both my e39 and my e60 and I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER.

Interesting, but not surprising to hear I was misinformed by my dealer...

I apologize, the Platinum Warranty is just the warranty. The maintenance is an additional $2095, and takes you to 04/29/2011 or 100k miles whichever occurs first. The Platinum plan is through Western General, and the maintenance plan is through BMW.
Got the reply from local BMW dealer finance dept above.

It seems that the warranty is tru 3rd party company Western General but the maintenance plan is through BMW.

Can I get BMW backed extended warranty instead of 3rd party?

Total both extended and maintenance: $5500

MRV99,
Is your warranty BMW extended warranty?
