2007 530i Vs 2008 535i

I'm looking to buy a BMW through the military sales program and I am looking for some advice about the deals offered. Leasing is not available with the program, so I will be purchasing the car. As long as I buy the car overseas, drive it 500 miles or more and register it locally, I will not have to pay the 2 percent import duty that is normally charged. I will also not have to pay any sales tax with this process, which is another significant savings. How much do you typically pay for a BMW model in the states? Is it MSRP, invoice or typically in between the two? Here are two deals I can get through the military sales. The first is a 2007 6 speed manual 530 with premium, sport, navigation and park distance for 46450, which includes the ship home fee. The second is a 2008 535 with sport automatic with paddle shift, premium, sport, Nav and park distance for 51750 and also includes ship home fee. I'm thinking the difference in price is offset by the depreciation the 07 will suffer when the 08 models are out. Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated. Thanks

There is information posted on Bimmerfest with the 2008 wholesale pricing, including Diplomat and Euro Delivery Wholesale Pricing. A good deal is $1,00 to $1200 above that pricing.
07 530 vs 08 535. It is not even close. Definitely get the 535. That is a great engine far superior to the 530 engine that came out in 2001. Go to e90post.com and ask them what they think of the engine. They will tell you that engine is an unbeleiveable value and it can be chipped so that it performs on a level equal to or better than today's 550 with a V8.

All of this is great info... I'll have to go through the iDrive menu's and see what items is shows me... I'm just not used to having a car that actually TELLS you what's wrong with it... I had the 3 series before and you'd simply guess at what items needed to be serviced...
How about the automatic trans? Has anyone had problem with their trans in the E60 yet?
