My Ride: 545i Steptronic Comfort Nav Winter but no Sport for dec delivery
Default

I placed my order today and have about a week before it enters production-ANY COMMENTS?

545I SLATE GREY BLACK STEPTRONIC - COMFORT SEATS, NAV, SAT PREP, WINTER PACKAGE.

I wanted 6 sp manual but chickened out. I really think Sirius is a bummer, but the dealer said spend the bucks for the prep in case I change my mind.

Why do you think I didn't get Sport?

-------------------------------------------

On another note-The Forum is great, but if you believe too much of it, you'll want a Lexus.
---and I talked to several dealers-most of the sales people really have no regard for the truth. Rizzo has about the best ideas-see previous thread and the guy I bought from was first class......so far.

Addendum:

This is the most honest, straight-up, pro-e60 forum in existence.

Answer - didn't want harsher ride

Consider getting HUD - only 1K and most people say it greatly improves driving experience with NAV. Could tell you more if my car ever arrives.

Harsher ride ==no
Dont feel sporty ==no, I m not sporty.

Too much negative on this forum about active steering is the answer. I think I can do without it at low speeds and it doesnt seem important at high speeds.

I'll probably add wheels-either 124s or 745 19s or any other great wheels out there.
With 18s I suspect I will want to lower car a touch. I would like active stabilization, but I can live without it.

The forum is good-but a lot of complaints as well as kudos.

HUD=sounds neat but I would probably be distracted by it-

Say what?
Getting distracted by HUD ?
Too many complaints in this forum ?
Too much negative about AS in this forum ?

Are we reading the same forum ?
I guess not! :'(

HUD is not distracting, AS is great and this forum is the best in the www.
If you don't believe this board is the best, try the other ones and you'll be glad once you come back here!

I went for the Sports for a couple of reasons, I love the sport wheels and the blaced out window details, (no chrome), and most importantly, I loved the sport seats. I also liked the active stabilization. As for the AS, I agree. I could have done without it. I weighted the other items on sports higher than learning AS.

As for HUD, I totally agree. I didn't want the distraction. Yes, it would provide more information, but I have been driving for 15 years without it and can do another 10 just fine.

My salesman also stated, "more electronic" more to go wrong.

Good choice, but I would re-consider the sports package.
One more thing. Check resale on current BMW's. Any car with the sports package has a much better resale.

Although I'd never say it's distracting, the HUD is something that you "notice" more when the car is new.

After a while, it simply becomes a place you glance at to get information you need. It's never "in the way" and it never causes me problems. I keep wishing that BMW will add some choices to the HUD because I love it so much. Once you have it, you won't want to go back to a car without it!
