Not sure if anyone else has gone through this yet, but Garry Romani has instituted a new ordering policy. When you place an order with him now, you must fax the following to them, BEFORE the order will be processed:
  • Copy of Drivers License (Both sides)
  • Copy of Credit Card (Both sides)

They mentioned something about being burned by someone that used the E60.net program discount. Which one of you genius' made it more difficult for us???

This sucks!!!!
Sounds like he's been burned by someone in our midst! I'm already a bit pissed at the fact that Tony
(Quad_M) is on this very forum and still partakes in our threads......and now this.

This sucks.....

Yeah, I just ordered a new M6 and they required that info. I was surprised. Oh well.

Ah that sucks. I'm actually trying to order something from Garry today and no access to a fax machine.

At least, he didn't ask you to send in an urine sample and finger print.

Some vendors that I've come across on the net require a driver's license and cc info to process payment. Usually, it's stores with real addresses that require that (since the main reason is being that they have come across fraudulent cc dealings).

Seriously, I would still buy from Romani since giving my ID info is probably less dangerous than giving my cc info... If I can trust him with my cc info, I guess trusting him with my ID info is okay....

I'm just kidding. I didn't order a new M6.

However, I did order a new O2 Sensor. Woohoo! Not!

Visa and MC offer retailers much easier and less intrusive methods for protection.

State and Federal [Consumer Protection mostly] Laws for obtaining and record-keeping of identifying information imposes a heavy burden on the person / organization requesting the information

Garry, if you like I'll be glad to send you the complete pdf for Visa's "Fraud Prevention Guidelines for Card-Not-Present Transactions".

Big Mike,

It's not the safety of one data bit or another ... it's combinations of multiple data bits that dramatically increases the ease of identity theft.
