JUST AN UPDATE:
I got it programmed and installed by Michael (Methodsound)...
Review of his work:
I installed the dension unit and it is great, full control and access to everything! He is a true professional and sticks to his word. I would highly recomend him to ANYONE. The guy knows the in's and out's of car sterios, and is nothing short of a professional.
IF ANYONE NEEDS THIS OR ANY OTHER UPGRADES TO THEIR SYSTEM THEY WOULD BE A FOOL NOT TO GO THRU MICHAEL!! Not only is the work perfect he also stands behind it, if anything should ever go wrong he will make it right!
Everyone on this board in the SoCal area should support one of our own and go thru Michael/Methodsound for any audio/custom install needs! I hope this review helps and in no shape way or forum did I know him / of him previous to my original post but when you meet someone who knows his sh*t, you know it!

I agree with methodsound.
iPod retrofit software activation requires MP3 activation, which may require CIPS/PROGMAN update, which may require update of certain control modules. My BMW Center described the same process when I had my BMW / Alpine BMW interface installed.
Most BMW Centers will quote on the high end, in case they are stuck with an 8-hour job updating various pieces of software on the car, which they have to babysit.

thats totally fine but the unit isnt more than $350, programming is another $100-$200 and install takes less than 5 minutes (i know its true because i did it and i cant do shit with cars)

I didnt go with the OEM unit, I have 5,000+ songs and the oem unit only allows for 500 or so, thats a ripoff! Check out my review above, dealers and local "custom" shops were quoting me $1,000+ for the install and to integrate it. I have a 2007 and it wasnt programed or MP3 ready at all...

thats not true, i have the oem unit and i have 2000 songs that i can access with my ipod

Glad you got everything sorted out and are happy with the Dension. But you could have done it yourself! The install is easy and there is a SB to get the mp3 programming for free. I can verify this as I have done it!
