Man this is expensive. Wife is probably not going to be pleased when she hears this.
I may as well get a new car instead of paying this much on warranty and maintenance. This was quoted by my dealer and is directly from BMW. Idrive is covered in this plan.
I think I have to start doing some extra moonlighting.

Wow, you are really really lucky. How much longer are you going to keep it?

If you keep your '08 you can defer the decision to purchase any BMW expended warranty or maintenance programs until the current coverages are about to expire. No sense buying them now if you might swap out your car before then! You won't receive 100% of your money in the resale value on a trade or outright sale.
My car is 22 months old and has 44000 miles on it. I typically put in 23000-24000 miles/year. Maybe I need to bicycle to work. That should help with the extra pounds I need to shed.
And would be cheap as well. Or maybe get a mule.
BTW, why is there such a huge difference between the NADA and KBB used car prices for the 5 series?

I would opt for the warranty and not the maintenance plan. The maintenance is needed but even if you paid for the services it prob breaks even if not cheaper esp if you have them done at independ shop. The warranty is a must though bc repairs can be very expensive and the peace of mind is well worth it. (starter motor was fixed by another member for $1000.00 at bmw recently)
good luck. PS I practice what I preach +CPO warranty and -on extended warranty
