Man this is expensive. Wife is probably not going to be pleased when she hears this.

I may as well get a new car instead of paying this much on warranty and maintenance. This was quoted by my dealer and is directly from BMW. Idrive is covered in this plan.

I think I have to start doing some extra moonlighting.

What's your situation? Are you about to blow through the 50K mile limit on your factory warranty?

That hurts.... a LOT

I have the CPO coverage for another 52k miles or until 6/2011. I can do my own oil changes and can do brakes if I have to so I am going to skip extending the maintenance and try and come out ahead... We'll see...

I think roughly half of that cost is the warranty? See the recent threads on blown motors OUCH !!!!

Rare but it could happen, plus if there is a catastrophic failure it is going to put the car out of action for weeks. With a dealer warranty they will usually give you a car to drive. An independent mechanic may save you several thousand but some of that will be offset by rental car costs unless you have other ways to get around.

Ripoff, find a good indy repair shop. I have a feeling that the F10's and dealer service are about to get a whole lot more expensive.

If you are going to exceed 50k miles shortly, then you have alot of highway miles. I put on 30k a year, and I purchased the maintenance contract thinking I would need a brake job by 100k miles (and brakes can run > $1,000). I have 92k miles, and my brakes are showing they are still good for 30k or 40k, so I don't know if the dealer will replace at the 100k checkup. If not, then I wasted a bunch of money. I've had no need for extended warranty coverage since nothing has broken.

I think these programs are great for BMW's revenue stream.

+1 for extended warranty, and -1 for extended maintenance! I looked up the 2 year maintenance extention and the only major item on there was the brakes, and for what they charge I can get cross drilled rotors and new pads and do it myself for half the cost!

As a matter of fact, I just did my 1st oil change myself yesterday....and saved a couple hundred over what the stealer would charge!

wow that's alot for extended coverage

if you're not mechanically inclined i would highly suggest to just go to a new car... euro cars are the worse outside of warranty, i dont care if it is a bmw audi mb watever... you wont ever catch me in one outside of warranty

I am approaching 6 years in my 530i, 70,000 miles. No extended warranty.
I have not spent ONE DOLLAR on anything outside of regular maintenance and tires. NOT ONE DOLLAR!
Come to think of it, even during the warranty period nothing needed repair or replacement.

This has been, by far, the best vehicle I've ever owned.

Wow, you are really really lucky. How much longer are you going to keep it?
