Thanks stormhammer. Sadly, both of these are inaccurately listed as manuals, at least according to the VIN decoder. This is unfortunately very common. The good news is that I found a nice one in California that I'm going to buy as long as PPI goes ok! Thanks again though!

Congrats, hope to see you on the road in new england.. the E61 535xi is already super rare to see.. a manual transmission would be so cool.. maybe I could get a ride in it one day just to see how the manual tranny feels. Sadly I didn't even bother looking for MT since I commute so much. I miss it a lot, was just driving my friends new forester to check out some creaks and noises.. boy I miss the MT.
