Hi Guys
I just took my car to service, and I am fed up with my insurance company. They want to "repair" the f***ed up rims instead of renewing them. So I decided that I'll give the car to them and they will pay me the policy amount.
So, here we are. A new car probably. Unless they decide to renew it (not likely).
I want to buy the car from abroad then bring it here. The taxes are astronomic here. F10 M5 is 275k Euros here and I am not kidding!
The government states that the imported cars should not be over the age of 3.
Here are the cars that I am after.
1- 1 Series M Coupe
2- E60 M5
3- F10 550i
4- 135 convertible
5- 650i convertible
Is there anyone here that can inform me about the taxation applied on the prices of the cars in their countries?
Thx

Sorry to hear about your situation. I am currently in Sweden and VAT here is 25%. Many here go to Germany or Poland to purchase their cars cash and then import it.
How about a 335i?
Good luck with your new purchase.

Well %25 is low.
I just came back from the shop again, the expert agreed to bring in new wheels after I threatened him that I'd refuse a fix and ask for compensation instead.
But still I am after a car. I like the 335i, can get it easily here some cheap ones exist.
The taxation is gigantic here.
You pay 84% for engines below 2000cc which after this first tax is applied, 18% vat is applied.
For over 2000cc its 150% plus the car's original price, then an additional 18% vat applied to the sum.
And can I be a Swedish member?
I know norwegian a little
its similar !

I don't know about the cost of shipping it back to your country but if you buy a car here in the united states, you usually pay about 10% of the sticker price for tax, title, and license.
