I am in the market for a 5 series xi. i have found a 528xi, 30k miles, navi, black on black. Was wondering if anyone could share some light on how much i will be looking at spending here. guy told me approx $32k.....any help here? I am new bmw! thanks!

Have a local dealer run the last 7 characters of the VIN to determine options installed, Warranty history, ensure all services have been performed, and determine what if any issues have been reported to BMW. CarFax is OK but you're better to invest $100 for a complete inspection by a BMW Dealer.

Better to be an informed consumer than a pissed off owner of a problem car.

As an option, have you checked out the availability of a pre-owned and certified BMW http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...delsearch.aspx

Is this a CPO? Even so, $32k seems high to me. I was shopping for a 528/535i myself recently for my sister before she changed her mind for a G37.

Do check the options on the car. You should also find out when the 4yr/50k full warranty expires. I'm unsure when they started selling the 2008 models, but you should have at least a full year of coverage. It'll be 4yr/50k from the purchase date, not the built date of the vehicle.

I'd also check the tire conditions, as it is not covered under warranty unless a tire package was purchased. My CPO came with new tires, but I'm not sure if this is always the case.

Furthermore, you could pay $40(?) and run autocheck if you are serious aboutt his car. I remember that one of the forum member ran autocheck after purchasing his car and noticed an accident history, which didn't show up on carfax - it was a CPO. For $40 or so, I think it's a peace of mind.

$32k does seem a little high. I've been seeing the 08 528xi's listed for around $29,900.

I guess it really depends on the options it has.

I would say for a nice loaded,CPO 528 with under 30K miles you would probably pay around 31-32 and add another 1-2 grand for an Xi option.
