Selling the car because I suffer from Short-Attention-itis. Have opportunity to buy a very low mileage C63 with all the toys and want to get it if I can get the right price for the 550. If not, then I will motor on as-is. Nothing wrong with car, just want the C63 after I drove one at a Ride & Drive event.

Thanks.

GP,

My apologies for the delayed response. Thanks for the information, greatly appreciate it. I'm interested in the car but admittedly, I've never had an opportunity to drive a SMG and have been trying to locate one at a dealer for a test drive. Once I do, I will be in touch. Hopefully someone on here (from the NE) will read this post and will be gracious enough to let me take a ride in theirs! ? ?.

BTW, C63 ? no further explanation needed :-)! If I could afford to own one I would be all over it!

No worries. Do your homework. This was my first car with smg. Liked it, especially in sport mode. Plus the Mrs. could drive too.

Any luck finding a car with SMG to test drive?

Unfortunately, no. I've called just about every dealer in CT and no luck. Apparently, the SMG transmission wasn't very popular with the general BMW clientele so the dealers don't keep them stocked ... My search continues.

SMG got a bad rep early on because the 1st generation system was slow reacting and lurchy. Just like I-drive still getting flamed for the inadequacies of the first gen. The 2006 E60's have the 3rd gen system that fixed the early issues. Much faster shifting and smoother.

Good luck with search.

Your car is pretty sick! Really like the wheels. Already have my eyes on a very clean and low mileage C63! I know it is blasphemy, but want to try something new after owning the Bavarian cars last 12 yrs. Plus, the exhaust note on the C63 is wicked.
