Hey I just can't stand Japanese styling!! Germans have got it. Japanese copy it , or at least try!!! Not only that, but the 545 just has got the shit!!! mucho acceleration and smoother than the inside of bikini model's leg!!

Since everyone is discussing why you should pick the 5, I'll discuss why you shouldn't pick the GS or A6. I didn't look at the E-class but I had issues with the interiors of the GS and A6.
The GS contol panel (?) with the HVAC/NAV/Radio looks like an after thought, it jsut looks stuck onto the dash. I think lexus did a better job on the interior of the IS compared to the GS.
Once again, the MMC looks tacked on to the speedo HUD. I think Audi did a much better job with the A8 with the integration and overall cabin design.
In closing, im sure that some people like the interior of both cars, but after seeing what else those two manufacturers could do, I didn't like the GS or the A6.

The E500 made me feel 10 years older just driving it.
Slow acceleration for a V-8 , soft ride , poor handleing, and the interior was this myrid of small buttons.
The A6 4.2, was a nice ride , I live in the snow belt so the Quattro was a attractive.
A bit nose heavy with the 4.2 , soft ride in plain set-up, a bit harsh in sports package.
Nice interior and I came very close to buying it, but with a VW Passat in my garage already I passed.
New Lexus was not released yet and old one was kind of weird looking to me.
I like the look of the new one ,except the interior with does look like after thought fit and finish.
Didn't care much for the M-45 when realesed, looked like a bigger G-35, but I'm warming up to the style of it now that I see some on the road.
Being a long time BMW owner the standards that I hold dear were not there in these other cars.
Once I drove a 545 that was it I traded in my 330 and have not looked back.
Also I'm pretty fickle about new cars, and have the ways and means to buy a new one each year if I want.
But I 'm so happy with my 545 I have stopped looking , it is the perfect fit for me and I can't see anything currantly out there worth trading for.

My Ride: 2008 Sapphire Black on Black M5 - loaded sans soft close doors
Loved the A6 4.2 - beautiful car. But needed more power and while the driving experience was better than my old GS430, it was closer to the new GS430 than it was to the BMW.
The new GS430 drove just like my old one - boring. I was so tired of that car 3 months after I got it. Big engine terrible handling and non-linear brakes. Ugh.
