Don't do it. Stupid fast straight line speed isn't everything. What happens when you encounter a turn? The CLK55 and E55 handle like crap. My E63 has better handling but nowhere near that of the 545i. You won't have the same confidence in a turn as you would in the 545i.

So in my free time I have been looking at autotrader and they have several CLK55 and E55 for sale.
I think I could get around $29,000 from carmax for my E60 and then turn around and buy an AMG.
Just wanting to know if anyone knows if the AMG's are reliable and how expensive service would be on the car?

Between the two E55 AMG hands down, the CLK 55 isn't supercharged it's naturally aspirated. The E55 on the other hand is real fast, tons of low end torque.

There is no way to get $29K for 2004 545. This is what 2007 550s go for. AMG cars are even less reliable than E60 but E55 is very fast and can be easily made even faster.
