Does anyone have any updated info on the release date for the new body style? I'm thinking about getting rid of my 545 later this year and I was contemplating my choices. Thanks guys

The next generation 5 series (called F10) will not likely be out until 2010 as a 2011 model year. It's not know if it will be a Spring or Fall 2010 debut.

We just had a face lift with model year 2008 (the fifth model year for the E60), so there are probably 2 more model years left after that for the E60.

Model year 2009 will be out .... who knows? The 2007 and 2008 models were released in March (2006 and 2007, respectively), so it looks likely that BMW will maintain the Springtime launch each year.

"All new" models are almost always introduced in September. The last two years' spring intros were due to an engine upgrade and a facelift.

Well, the new 3 series (E90) was launched here in the U.S. during Spring. And I think the 2002 E65 new 7 series was introduced here in the U.S. in the Spring too. Of the core BMW models (3/5/7), only the 2004 E60 had a standard Fall debut. (I haven't paid attention to the X models ... where they Spring launches too?).

It looks to me like BMW - here in the States - is consistently using March/April to bring out new models, as well as face lifts. And since the E60 has been on a Spring cycle for 2007 & 2008, my guess is that this will hold up through the remaining life of the model. Otherwise, one model year will need to run 18 months to get back on a Fall cycle.

Although, stranger things have happened. For example, I don't think there ever was a model year 1996 5 series. I owned an E34 1995 540i that was built in December, 1995 - when you would normally see MY 1996 being built - and then the new 5 series (E39) came out in 1996 as a model year 1997. So there was no model year 1996 for the 5 series ... they skipped the year.

Hink - You must be going crazy with your ED just days away!
