It's about time

Porsche had initially planned to acquire more than 50 percent of VW's stock last year but was forced to delay the operation after the value of the shares soared amid frantic stock market speculation.

At one point, they traded for more than 1,000 euros (1,350 dollars) per share, making VW briefly the biggest company in the world by stock market valuation.

On Monday, VW shares closed at 254.74 euros, close to the range Porsche had set for itself of between 200-250 euros.

I hope they replace the portfolio strategist that keeps trying to position it's cars ahead of the image of the brand and they get back to their core strenghts of value and dependability !

Frankly BMW is far more guilty of image enhancement than Porsche. Porsche is a premium brand, and it's positioned and priced accordingly. As for reliability, BMW takes lessons from Porsche there too.

According to JD Power, Porsche was the highest ranked brand for initial quality for 2008 (the third consecutive year it's taken pole position). In 2008 (and also 2007) the 911 was the best placed individual model, recording the lowest number of defects per vehicle of any car in the survey.

I could be wrong but I think Keith was talking about VW and may have been referring to the Phaeton.

............Yes , it was VW I was talking about. They are wavering from their position and trying to one up even Audi , I hope they get the portfolio straight !!
