welll i get your point but when you spend that much of money on car, and if you are looking for performance, just get a 997 carrera 4s or turbo instead of get a stretched version of 997...

Just a thought, but perhaps it may be because it's an incredibly well engineered, great handling Porsche that happens to seat four in an opulent interior while simultaneously blowing the proverbial doors off anything that BMW currently offers?
This is why I am dying for the F10 M5 to come out. When a Caddy CTS-V can blow the E60 M5 away on the Ring and win every car mag's head to head comparo with the M5, it is time for a new model so that BMW can reclaim the crown.

Hopefully as BMW designs the F10 M5 and decides whether go to with a TT V8 or V10, it will be keeping the Panamera's performance numbers in mind. I want to see 600 bhp at a minimum.

You should be in luck, Scott. It's almost a foregone conclusion that the F10 M5 will be absolutely spectacular. My suspicion is that it probably won't break 600 bhp, but who knows!

It is cool to see the Panamera Turbo only beating the CTS-V by 3 seconds around the ring. Porsche's latest and greatest technology. Also a car that cost more twice the CTS-V at $132,600. It really puts into perspective how well GM did on the CTS-V.

The Panamera design has grown on me quite a bit. Like someone said above, when the E60 first came out I really didn't like it either. Looking forward to seeing the Panamera in person. The interior pics look amazing.

Overall Porsche did an excellant job with the Panamera. There is no mistaking it for any other car, it has Porsche written all over it.

I agree, although it's interesting to note that the Panamera does give up 56 bhp to the CTS-V (500bhp vs 556 bhp) and is slightly heavier (despite the Panamera being a much bigger car than the CTS-V, weights are close) so it's clear that the advantage at the Ring comes from better handling.

Whether the F10 breaks 600 bhp will turn on whether BMW goes with the TT V8 (or some tweaked version thereof) now in the X5M and X6M (in which case the output will likely be between 550 and 575 bhp) or goes for the gusto, breaks the bank and rolls out the rumored TT V10 (in which the output will likely exceed 600 bhp). The later option, however, is likely to sriously increase the next M5's price. I bet that BMW will save development $$ and go for an uprated version of the TT V8 in the X5M and X6M,

I agree. Building a car with that kind of performance for under $70K and with an interior that car mags still rate as decent is a feat.

GM really hit it out of the park with the CTS-V. Building cars like that helps all auto buyers -- even those who would never consider GM -- because it raises the bar for performance and encourages other car makes to build cars that exceed it.

I'll take speed over beauty in a car if I have to chose. The Panamera's looks may grow on me. When I first saw the E60 in Germany prior to the US release, I thought it was ugly. But its looks grew on me and BMW improved the looks.

Hopefully the F10 M5 will have both looks and power.
I see your point, but I want both!! It might grow on me, kind of like the X6. I have grown to think it is better looking than when it first came out.

I like the Panamera. The pictures looked a bit awkward at first but after a while it grew on me. Just like how I hated the first pictures of the Mercedes CLS but was in awe when I saw it in person. Or maybe it's not the look that grew on me but the fact that it's a Porsche after all and with the 500hp engine, it appeals to the power lover in me.

There's a member on M5Board that placed an order for one so I hope to read about it once it's delivered.

Panamera is NOT a sedan. Its an ugly child of a sports car and a truck. Barf.
