We'd be better off reserving judgement on how good or bad this particular car is until anyone has actually had a chance to drive it.

An SUV can be more practical to drive the family, go on holidays etc. Some even have seven seats !! Maybe an SUV owner, like you on the odd occassion, wants to drive as fast as possible in it. An M5 owner preaching about SUV's wasting fuel is pretty funny. The M5 is a great car no doubt about it. You made your choice - just respect others.

I still don?t get the overpowered SUV concept
The overpowered sedan- that?s something else!
SKK:
You do not know what you are talking about - when it comes to using the full potential on the autobahn.
Do you know what?s the potential of the M5? Or maybe I know better, with almost 40.000km in it?
Anyway - stupid discusion. You like overpowered SUV, I like overpowered sedan.
Maybe we are not so unlike after all?????

Re the Autobahn, not many people have access to them worldwide and practically even in your M5 you cant do more than 155mph. A 550i/540i will do the same thing pretty comfortably - so what advantage are you getting from an M5 over say a 550i on the Autobahn even if you reach 155mph for a short burst ?

Not really -
- The vast majority of M5 buyers don't have access to Autobahns
- The vast majority of M5 buyers don't have their cars delimited. Potentially reckless to do so depending on how much the tyres can take. Also have you told your insurance company?
- Even on an Autobahn doing more than 155mph is pretty taxing. Regardless you cant keep it going for long - on most autobahns because of the traffic you cant even hit that speed safely. Delimiting a 550i would have a similar effect - nowhere as fast as an M5 but it will do well over 155mph.
- I would rather have a crash sitting inside a big SUV rather than an E60. However anything over 60mph your dead in both anyway.
Remember this discussion isnt about Cidair but about the average M5 user. Personally I would rather have an M5 over a superfast SUV. I think the M5 is a superb vehicle which any owner should be proud of. But the points you are making against a superfast SUV are equally valid for an M5. At the end of the day people have different preferences......

Delimited at BMW M in Garching, including drivers training and full BMW warranty, but ONLY to 305 km/h just because of the tires!
Some people get it right from the start... ... even if some others don?t think so
I?m withdrawing from this case now. Bye bye....
