Bluetec is a name BMW refuses to use...it's an invention from DaimlerChryslerr concerning nitrogen oxide reducing systems fur use in Diesel engines. And to be even more specific, the Bluetec system is actually two; AdBlue and DeNOx. Both working together in a happy marriage to reduce NOx emissions.

Can someone clear up a very simple question for me?

In terms of global warming, is using a diesel better than gas? It seems that less fuel is used (higher mpg) but it appears that diesels are "dirtier" in terms of emissions.
