Which color would you choose for the 997TT:

1. Speed Yellow
2. Basalt Black (metallic black with silver flakes, makes car looks sort of grey under some conditions; hides dirt and scratches better)
3. Standard Black (between the black I am leaning towards this one... when clean should look spectacular)

I have noticed in other forums that some black porsche owners want a speed yellow one for their next buy .

I voted for Basalt Black although i only think i know how it looks like. Pic no 2 is std black?
BUT even more i would buy my 997 turbo in white. With rims in matched colour. That would be one exclusive and eye poping turbo. In a way every Porsche you see is kinda black or silver. At least here...

 

I own a black 911, and I can tell you that you will do yourself a favor by getting something else. You will drive yourself mad trying to care for this paint. Nothing looks better when it is clean and freshly detailed, but God it is tough to keep swirl free and wet looking. I will never get another black Porsche. If you must have black at least get the Basalt with metallic flakes to hide some of the inevitable micro marring and swirls. Other than that the PC hand polisher and some good cutting pads will be your friend. If you do not have the time and patience for it do not consider flat black.

 

I can sense that you were loosing your patience writing the reply and imagining the swirls.

 

Bettermakeway, the second picture is indeed Basalt B. I have not been able to find a 997 TT in Standard black.

I don't know whether you're getting an MY06 or MY07 997, but for 07, Cobalt Blue becomes a "standard" metallic color rather than the more expensive "special" metallic color as it was in 06. FWIW, Lapis Blue moves from a "standard" to a "special" color.

 

Hinckley, I have specced an 07 model. I believe the 997 twin turbo will be launched in the US in June as such.

 

My favorite is Yellow, although my gf told me why spend so much money to drive a 2-door taxi.
