Looks like this could be a real contender to the 535d crown. Must admit the interior is fantastic and now they've finally got a great engine too!

Well I don't think it's time for complacency, some seem to think it's a match, and perhaps more than a match. This taken from a review in today's Auto Express:-
"but it takes on the mighty BMW 535d and wins!"

No matter how fancy the interior is or how good a new engine is.... it is the reputation that they are fighting and struggling. It will take a loooong while for a Jaguar to be a real contender to a BMW.

The E60 is an admittedly older design, and the FX is their newest vehicle, so not exactly Apples to Apples is it! Besides, who would really want to drive a car from Tata??

Should we look down on Ferrari or Maserati because they're owned by Fiat?

So Mr Jaguar (or Tata or Ford or whoever) has finally produced its diesel engine in the size it should have been at launch. It was sorely missing those 300cc's.
And a contender for the 530/535 too.
My brother has an X-type 2.2d that he likes a lot - better than his early X-type 2.5 petrol he had previously. I would say that his early one was a lot better screwed together and presented than his current one though. He is eagerly awaiting the 3 litre S XF to come into the secondhand market - he reckons at a year old, it will be in his price range. With those headline figures, I could be interested too. Time will tell, but the 2.7 engine got good press, so hopefully the 3 litre will be even better, and with more power to boot.

Front is terrible, looks like an American car. Rear looks really good. If they made it look like the pre-production XF, it would have been a winner. I don't even notice the car when it is driving towards me on the road. Very boring front end look, especially those headlights.
