if you can afford the M5 i would go that route. the IS-F is pretty nice but i was kinda pissed when they were making a big deal about the tranny in those cars. at the auto show last year, Lexus had a chart that showed how fast an auto, IS-F and a F1 car shifted but they never mentioned the SMG that the M cars have. i actually got into an argument with this guy there, he kept saying the no other car company had this technology blah blah blah. what an idiot he was.
back on topic! the M5 is classy and the IS-F will get you ricer attention.

My Ride: 2008 Sapphire Black on Black M5 - loaded sans soft close doors
Saw my first TWO IS-Fs today (both in Columbus) - Red and Gray - VERY VERY SHARP.
I hate to say it, but the 39 months with my GS430 sucked. I can't explain it short of, when the BMW dealer said to me "you will be back" when I turned in my 2000 540ia, they were right.
But still, that car can be had for a screaming deal and I really like the looks.

I had a IS350 and that thing was very nice! I thought that thing was quick enough 0-60 in 5 sec flat... I can only imagine the IS-F... It lacks in the handling department but everything else its great. Its tuned much better than any Merc C-Class minus the AMG.
Glorified Toyota? perhaps... but the interior quality is not your normal Toyota... its some of the parts down below...

I would go e92 M3, I prefer to drive a manual transmission, the IS-F looks cheap compared to a M3, too similar to the other IS-series only the rear is unique. Also, it has less horsepower and the engine is not as greatly advanced as the M3 engine which is more economical and one of the more technologically advanced engines built so far, my friend went through the same choice making as you and ended up getting an e92 M3. Anyways, choice is yours.
