You have to understand that even a Porsche or any car will break down if it is abused. You can only use the LC feature so many times before it breaks. In any line of cars, you will have lemons, too. While Nissan is not known for super reliability, the combination of first year production, the name brand, and some abuse is probably giving the GTR a bad wrap.
Porsche came in 1 and 2 and then the Ferraris (well modded) by quite a margin, where were the GTRs?
its near Japan so no excuse for them not to turn up
German cars tested in daily use on the autobahn v freeways of Japan (i know they tested it in the N ring etc,.)
but there is only gonna be one winner, German tech + reliability wins

It's actually attributed to dumbass drivers who don't know that the tranny has to cool down before they do LC back to back. Not even Porsche will warranty against driver's ignorance.
