As someone who has stoplight raced a G35 in my steptronic 545, I can assure you your friend is mistaken. I torched a G35 just a few weeks ago.

Now, the 530 would probably be a different story.

Your friend is clinically insane!!!! I had a G35 coupe before getting my 545, and there's no comparison. The G35 is, however, a very fine piece of kit indeed and is a genuine match for the 330 which is really its main competitor in the BMW range. Like DFWRaider I had a G35 coupe try some stoplight action as well and had the same result he did.

I guess we could even torch a G35 6spd manual coupe or sedan correct?

Infiniti's marketing has definitely swollen the heads of owners of all Infiniti autos.

I've heard them say BMW's have too many electrical problems, the E60 is ugly blah, blah, blah.....they just didn't want to bite the bullet and get a BMW.

Better yet i'll race him and we can settle this pissing contest but if he has any Stillen or other mods forget it though.

A friend of a friend of mine has a G35 coupe with mods and he claims it can put out 380hp. Hmmmmmmm..................................?

0 to 60mph times are important but 0 to 100mph, 1/4 mile, passing i.e. 50 to 70mph etc. times are equally important.

Anyways it's punks like these that make me wanna get a C6 Z06 and shut 'em up for good.

the 298HP 6 speed version would be close.... but auto vs auto, the 545i would win....

I've run a couple 350z's and it's not much of a contest, so I can't imagine a G35 would give you any trouble. Remember also that the 545 automatic is running test times in the car mag's that are faster than the 6sp. Best time I've seen is 5.2 sec 0-60, and 13.7 quarter mile @104 mph for the steptronic!

The Japanese cars will be revising some of their HP estimates due to the new SAE guidelines in the US. I've heard that the Infiniti numbers especially will come down, so 298 HP may not really be 298...

In any case, you should race your friend and set him straight. Bet him lunch or something if you can.

G35 280HP (auto), 3468lbs (RWD)
545i 325HP, 3748lbs (auto)

Most magazines show about a .5 sec advantage BMW from 0-60 (both auto, both RWD). I've driven the G35. Nice, but it's not a BMW. Throw in some twisties and the advantage gets larger.

umm well I still have both at this point and ya the 545i stock vs a stock G35 auto would be a win for the bimmer but the G35 coupe handles really well dunno bout the sedan i had a loaner at it was pretty good I took it to stunt rd. and played with it a little bit it seemed just as good a my coupe if it had better tires anyway. But i'd still rather have the Bimmer. But a g with boost will kill many cars I was putting down 350RWHP in my auto coupe and it would kill many cars. but in the end I ditched the supercharger bought a bimmer and put the G for sale.

I drove a G35 sedan with automatic at an autocross event. It didn't feel nearly as fast as my 545. It was about as fast as the new 330.

You're in Queens? I know places just outside the city where you can let it loose.
