Hi guys, new here!

for my first post, I need some help from you guys.

I am choosing between an 07 Lexus GS 350 and an 07, or perhaps an 06 530i. Somebody please provide me some info to make my selection a little easier. I have driven a 02 M3 and a 96 328, so I am obviously a fan of BMW.

The difficulty lies here. The interior of the GS is just so much more sophisticated than the 5, and also the price tag is a few Gs lower. I got quoted 44k before tax for an '07 GS350 with navi, does anybody know what the lowest price is that I could get an 07, or even an 06 530 for? This way I can plan my purchase a lot easier. Oh yeah, I live in LA, CA.

Thanks everybody... please help!!

+edit..... I have made my choice..... 530i...here I come.... I know I have made the right choice... god bless

You will basically be choosing between more luxury, but complete disconnect from the road, and boredom (Lexus) and excitement, grin on your face when driving (BMW).
I have driven both cars and the Lexus is very silent, but feels to me more like a Lincoln. When I got back in my E60 right after driving the Lexus, it was a big relief and I apologized to my car right away for cheting on it (her, him???).......

Well, you have a tough decision to make. Do you like her plump and soft or hard and tight Kidding aside, forget about the cost. A very well equipped 07 530, like what I have, goes for around $53K (before tax and license). So you are talking about $9K difference. But man, money is well spent because she is hard and tight!

Yeah, it's no doubt "hard and tight" compared to "plump and soft." I guess it depends on the type of driver you are, spirited or non-spirited. I test drove both cares and even though i don't have the 530 sport there was still night-and-day difference in terms of handling and performance (and i don't mean 0-60 times) between the lexus and bimmer. In the bimmer i feel connected to the road, but with the luexus i felt like i was floating on top of it.

When you ask this kind of question in BMW forum, you know what you will get. Pease ask the same question in Lexus forum. And you will have harder time to decide...

I test drove the Lexus GS300 and I though it drives pretty good, much better than M35, to my surprise. What turned me off is rear seat head room. GS's exterior doesn't lool "luxury" either.

The lexus will spend a lot less time at the dealer !

BMW = agony and ecstasy; Doubt that Lexus will reach the same peaks of either

Thanks for the inputs, im gonna post the same thread in the lexus forums and see what they say.

the thing is, I drove an M3, so I guess I am the hard and tight kind of guy. But I got married last yr, and my wife will probably drive this thing a lot too, so I dont know if she'll like it "nice and tight" plus... cost is an issue to me, im turning 26 and I dont know if i can afford this car and save up for a house in this ridiculous housing market at the same time!
But I want my e60!! It looks so much better on the outside....

decisions......

I made the same comparision, and ended up with the 530. The Lexus has zero headroom in the back seat, and the trunk is also smaller. As others have stated, I enjoy the BMW ride much more than the Lexus. As far as the maintenance, I've had zero problems over the first 17,500 miles.

Buy a used 545 and save a bunch. Looks for those only 15k miles or less. However, Lexus is more luxury and I think it'll fit well for your wife
Please don't ask us, just ask her which one do you like, and you'll get answer right away.
Don't listen to these old guys on this forum. They're all 40+ J/K
Over here, you'll see more mature inputs compared to www.clublexus.com forum. Money is yours, so take our inputs and filter out those are not relevant to your need.

Damn BRO, dont ask your wife...March straight down to the BMW dealer and get your E60. If you dont, I promise you that if you get the Lexus, every time you see an E60 you will get a pit in your stomach for not going for it. The BMW isnt that rough of a ride that your wife wont enjoy. After you have it for a month or so, take her to lexus to test drive one, and she will agree the Beamer was the right choice. My wife loves my car, and shes is 27 and I am 34...Lexus is for slow, sleepy, non agressive, use your signal every time, wait at the green light 10 secs before taking off, kind of people....
