How do you figure?

$115k for very good, but not outstanding preformance. I think this car is another VW dud, ala Phaeton. At this price I'd rather have:

-911 GT3. Lot of 997 on the streets, but the Audi brand doesnt inspire exclusivity like a AM Vantage (also consider ahead of R8). I think its absolutely stupid by VW to have their biggest rival for this car in the same showroom, as it is in my local dealer.

-Zo6. Better preformance + 40k in savings.

-Ford GT. A few more bucks, but will blow this thing away.

BTW, some of the photos look great, but from the side or slightly angled it looks like an older Toyota MR2.

Everything I've read has it above 100k, and usually those estimates are conservative. The R8 being introduced carries a V8, with the well-know V10 (Gallardo, s6 and s8) coming soon thereafter.

I think this would work with the v8 at 79-85k and the v10 110-125k.

I've read and seen that Audi outsells their superior German competitors in Europe. IMO, they are way overpriced here in the States. Not only would I say Audi is behind BMW and MB in the total package, but also behind Infiniti and Lexus overall.

I think you will surprised when the V10 powered R8 hits the streets. This is no Phaeton, which despite being an outstandingly well engineered car, suffered predominantly through having the the wrong badge and perhaps slightly conservative styling. As an Audi this won't suffer the same fate, and it will sell up to new buyers rather than steal sales from the Gallardo. In essence it will provide Gallardo like performance for VW/Audi money, no Lambo buyer is going to choose the R8 over the Gallardo but anyone with 100K to spare is going to look at this as economy Lambo. Great move by Audi.

I disagree, their fate, at least in the US is sealed because it is an Audi. Audi does not inspire people. It does not have the cache other cars in this market do, plus many still realize how unreliable the car remains. Also not many people that can afford these cars like to have the rate of depreciation Audi is famous for.

Plus you're losing sight of the price, 100k+ to start on the V8, whats the V10? 140K? I would think. I think it will be a loser for Audi. They're not building many, I think a 1000 a year. Good luck to them. I know if I had 130K laying around I wouldnt be heading to an Audi dealership. Hell I got 60k laying around and I am not heading there.

As I posted before Audi is overpriced across the board (RS4 #1 example). At 70-80k maybe it would interest me as something different and somewhat unique. The preformance numbers dont justify this level in price. Not that 0-60 times are everything, but I've read times anywhere from 4.5-4.9. The M3 will at least do that, and for significantly less cash.

i had posted a while back on this if you do a search, and i think that the price will be in the $70K-$80K for the V8, it has to be, they are targeting the 911 market, so they have to make it a bit more attractive in terms of price because Audi is not a car that demands premiums in the US...as a $100K car, they will surely fail in the US and therefore fail overall...its nice looking, at least initially, but it has to get by on performance at these prices, and as far as i can see, it doesnt sway me from my 6er

from CarandDriver. Audi hasn't announced pricing for the R8 as yet, but it will undercut the Gallardo by a bunch. V-8 versions likely will cost about $100,000, which will pit the R8 squarely against the Porsche 911 Carrera.

I am goint to guess this baby begins north of 100k.
